Research directions / AI for science & mathematics

Make discovery reproducible.

Scientific agents, mathematical reasoning, and research software that help people reach a result they can check.

Bring an idea in this field

Redko Labs research notes · October 13, 2026

Why this field deserves attention

Stanford’s 2026 AI Index gives scientific AI its own chapter. The opportunity goes beyond model benchmarks: researchers need dependable tools that fit a real experimental or computational workflow.

One company idea to explore

A reproducibility workspace that turns a published computational method into a versioned, runnable experiment, with cited assumptions, environment capture, and human approval before execution.

A possible first customer

Computational biology groups, scientific software teams, and R&D organizations with expensive, fragile analysis workflows.

The first experiment

Pick one permitted public benchmark and reproduce three methods. Compare setup time, failure rate, provenance coverage, and compute cost against the existing notebook workflow. Interview five researchers about their last failed reproduction.

What a founding team might bring

Machine learning, applied mathematics, scientific computing, statistics, software systems, and a scientific domain.

What must be resolved

Check paper, code, and dataset licenses. Report uncertainty and failed reproductions. A convincing demo must survive unseen inputs and an independent rerun.
